How To Prepare For Your Microchanneling Treatment
Preparing for your procedure
- Suspicious Lesions must be diagnosed by a practitioner prior to beginning treatment.
- Discontinue autoimmune therapies and retinoid products 24 hours prior to beginning treatment.
- Consider prophylactic treatments if you are prone to viral breakouts.
- Use of Accutane must be discontinued 6 months prior to the treatment
Not Recommended
Contraindications:
- Keloid scars
- Active eczema
- Psoriasis and other chronic conditions.
- History of actinic or solar keratosis.
- History of herpes simplex infections.
- History of diabetes.
- Presence of raised moles in the area to be treated.
- Have overactive acne, rosacea, or other inflammatory conditions.
- Have open wounds
Absolute Contraindications:
- Scleroderma
- Collagen or vascular diseases, and cardiac abnormalities.
- Blood clotting conditions.
- Active bacterial or fungal infections.
- Immunosuppression
- Not recommended for women who are pregnant or nursing
Aftercare and Healing Guidelines
Frequency of treatment:
Initial treatment recommendation minimum of 6 sessions, 4-6 weeks apart then for regular maintenance once or twice every 6 months.
Do
- Use 100% aloe vera juice after the treatment throughout the day.
- Next day begin after care and apply throughout the day as needed for 3-5 days.
- Can wear makeup after 24 hrs and return to daily skincare regimen.
- Use a gentle, non-active cleanser, moisturizer and SPF 30.
Don't
- First 90 minutes do not introduce anything to the skin other than the serum or hydrating mask after the procedure.
- Stay out of the sun, gym and avoid excessive sweating for 24 hrs.
- NO retinol or active ingredients for 7 days after treatment and 48 hours before treatment.
Channeling alone will deliver limited results. Channeling with at-home aftercare improves the health and vibrancy of the skin. Scarring is reduced and hyperpigmentation inhibited.
